Square wedding cakes
Wedding cakes don’t have to be round; one new shape catching on is the square wedding cake. One intriguing idea for a square cake is to make it resemble pretty wrapped presents. This is usually done by stacking the squares in different sizes from large to small tiers and using different colors of icing and decorations to make them look like individually wrapped gifts. The icing can be made to look like bows and ribbons and you can add a nice topper that resembles a gift tag for a special touch.
A square cake is also quite easy to cut and it makes it easier to get even pieces for all your guests. You might even consider making individual square cakes of different flavors for both variety and a different style all your own. This works especially well if it is an informal and small wedding. These individual cakes can even be monogrammed and be placed in special take home boxes as a memento of the wedding or can be arranged in a nice style to form a dessert buffet.
