Cake Groom Unique Recipe

A unique groom cake recipe is historically not very likely because many countries claim the origin of the groom cake. Originally cake groom picture were incorporated, into the top layer of the cake.

The photograph was often used to set into the top layer of the icing. The cake groom photo idea has fallen out of favour with an increased awareness of hygiene.

The cake groom wedding idea is an old tradition that has once again become fashionable at society weddings.

British tradition kept the groom cake separate, from the wedding cake, it may have been the top layer, but it was never served to guests. It often was not even attached to the wedding cake as although it was a fruitcake it was not often iced. Sometimes for decorative purposes it was adorned with spun sugar.

After the wedding it was placed intact inside a tin and drenched with brandy to keep it moist. It was kept and served fro the first anniversary dinner. This would suggest it was only a custom amongst the rich then, the poor certainly could not have afforded that luxury.

Apparently the cake groom idea was quite a different tradition in the American South. Same goes for cake groom unique recipe. The unique cake groom to the South idea was to wrap the cake in fancy monogrammed boxes and presented to the guests on leaving, it was meant to say thank you.

This cake groom idea and cake groom unique recipe gave way to many legends if you were single and female and slept with a piece of the groom cake under your pillow you would dream of the man you would eventually marry. The groom cake was a gift of the bride to the groom, so quite how this legend grew up around the groom cake is not clear.

A cake design groom cakes has altered over the Centuries and when the idea of a groom cake has been employed they have been personally designed. These personal groom cakes reflect the personalities of the groom and make a cake groom unique.

They often reflect the interests of the groom; a cake golf groom will depict golf in one way or another to a groom that plays golf. Cake design groom nowadays is far more informal; it is not even necessarily served at the wedding.

Bride cakes had groom toppers and often these toppers were actually carved and crafted by the groom. The groom cake rarely did have toppers whilst they were all individual the only continual running thread through all the traditions of the groom cake is that is was soaked in alcohol.

Nowadays the tradition of the groom cake has not really evolved around the cake groom idea, but has been presented and eaten at the wedding as a second choice of dessert. In the states they were always dark and often chocolate so they make sense as a second dessert.

Poker Groom's Cake

 What you'll need:

1 box Duncan Hines white cake mix.
    1 can dark chocolate frosting
    1/2 block of green fondant
    Red icing for piping
    1 pack of playing cards
1 small stack of poker chips

How to make it

Prepare cake as per package directions. This is a single tier cake, not a layer cake, for a small party of guys but can be made into a layer cake if desired by adding another can of frosting. Let cook and trim off top to make a flat surface, turn this cut surface down onto cake platter. Crumb coat frost the cake then let sit for 15 minutes to allow coat to set up.

Roll out fondant into a circle, trim using a circle of cardboard or smaller cake round than used for baking the cake. Adhere fondant to top of cake in the center. Using a small star tip, pipe circles around the fondant to cover the rest of the top of the cake. Make a hand of cards, gluing them together with frosting and place with frosting onto cake. Stack chips together using frosting to glue them together and into place.

Using the same small star tip run vertical stripes all around the outside of the cake then trim with scallop piping around bottom edge. Place 1 poker chip right in front. Pipe "Cheers to the Groom" round the outside of the cake and "You Drew a Royal Flush" onto the fondant to finish off the cake.
