Question:
The weddding cake will have a fruit cake top with 2 tiers of mud cake (3 tiers in all) no pillars, with a cascade of icing roses flowing from the top tier.
Answer 1:
you can use fondant. that helps. if not, put down one layer of frosting, let it dry, then put on another. sort of like a crumb coat.
make sure you let the chocolate mud dry out first then royal ice,if you need any more tips just ask.
Answer 2.
Ice the cake with a thin layer of butter cream first and let dry for two days. THEN add your royal icing and decorations.
Make sure the cake has cooled completely before icing it. Also, beating the icing until it's soft enough to spread thickly and easily will help. You can heat the icing over a double boiler if you need to.
Answer 3.
make sure the cake has cooled completely and then add one thin layer of icing (i almost put ice cream there lol!) and let it dry then add another thicker layer of icing and that should prevent the color from bleeding through.
Answer 4.
The classic way to do this is to use a thin layer of fondant over the cake as a bse for the icing. Roll it out to a size that will cover each layer, and then lay it on the layer and mold it into place. The process is sort of the reverse process of putting a bottom crust into a pie pan.
